Another sunny dry day and another day in shorts – the daily mantra for this particular July. The appearance of what would appear to be a new batch of basal-cell carcinoma on my face gets me down. I lock it away in the back of my mind. That’s better. The washing machine is on – shirts. And by shirts I mean t-shirts; I very rarely wear shirts. My cappuccino is good; very good in fact. I feel better already.
It is a week since I ventured out of the home. Do I miss being out? In all honesty – yes. I tell myself I don’t mind spending all my time at home, but actually I would prefer to be at home most of the time – and out walking and chatting in the pub for some of the time. I just need to wait until I have saved enough cash for a few pints.
In the last few days I have reinforced and improved my knowledge on two fronts: British history in the period 400-550 and the science behind the greenhouse effect and the impact of greenhouse gases on our life support systems. All very interesting but I have no-one to teach; no-one to pass my knowledge and insights onto; no-one to form opinions of their own based on this knowledge – and to counter the lies and sophistry spreading like a virus from social media and selfish Establishment grifters like Farage.
The recycling team are outside now and the washing machine is nearly done. Time to leave the sofa, get the bins in – and get the washing out. Such excitement on a Tuesday morning. Am I glad I am at home to witness it all? Not really. But tomorrow will be an exciting day indeed…
