Rain through the night and continuing into the morning; I estimate that another week of this might fill my pond, except that another week of this is not in the forecast. I have spoken to my mother and she is, despite the rain, making it out to me on the bus; all being well she should be with me at 11am.
My mother is just one month away from being 90 years old, and is doing well considering her ailments. These last few months there has been a break in the usual cycle of her Tuesday or Friday visits, which require a lot of effort on her part. In this weather she will get a bus into town rather than walk, then wait for a bus out to me in the suburbs. The break was caused by her not feeling well and by the weather; the summer was just far too hot for someone of that age to be out and about and worrying about buses. I have been meeting mum in town, which is much easier for her and she enjoys it. But she always liked to come out to me, to see me and my home and to enjoy the change of scene.
The rain is due to be over by lunchtime so her journey home on the 1445 bus will be dry. I will then give a little thought to dinner; the leftover pasta I cooked yesterday I’ll have tomorrow – I suspect today will be a can of soup.
