It’s Sunday Again

Feeling good after a cold start: blue sky, gently warming sun, stillness and, of course, cappuccino.

Morning Thoughts From A Devon Sitting Room: Sunday, 8th. November 2026

I am feeling well this morning, especially after a shower. Early fog has given way to pleasantly muted and warming autumn sunshine. Unusually, I have had the gas fire on for an hour to take the nip out of the 15-degrees air in the sitting room. It is now 17 degrees and I have the sun on my neck and head, not in a blistering summer sort of way but a gentle soothing bathe. The french doors onto the back garden might just as well be coated with a high resolution photograph, as everything in the garden is stock still; the only sign of movement is actually light reflecting off dew on the grass, if ‘glistening’ can be called movement.

My morning cappuccino  is no more, finished with enjoyable but ultimately undue haste. I would like another, but the bathroom needs cleaning and I really ought to prepare vegetables for a stew: slow cooker or stove-top? I haven’t decided yet, but as time progresses the slow cooker option becomes less viable. For the time being, I am enjoying the sun on my back, the view onto the garden and the thought of making a pot of coffee.

It’s Sunday again.
