Teignmouth QM2

Queen Mary @ Teignmouth

Covid refugees at sea

I thought I would pay a visit to The Ness at Shaldon this afternoon, partly because it was a beautiful day but also because I thought the Queen Mary 2 might still be anchored off Teignmouth, along with a number of other cruise ships laid-up due to the pandemic.

The QM2 was indeed anchored in the bay, as was the P&O Ventura. I was also able to get a snap of the Teignmouth RNLI boat in action. Photos were taken from the coastal footpath at the top of the Ness.

Despite many changes over the decades Shaldon remains, in my view, one of the most pleasant villages in Devon, and one I would gladly live in if I could afford it! Most people I know who were born in Newton Abbot would choose Shaldon as a place to move to, especially if they wanted to be close to the sea. The trouble is, most local people would have difficulty finding the asking price of houses – to buy or to rent.
