USA Day 3: With family in Little Guyana

USA 2016 part 4: 13th November – a day with family

Sunday was a day of relaxation and meeting the extended family, including a visit to Little Guyana, which is centred on Liberty Avenue in Richmond Hill, Queens. This is a good place to buy roti, pepper sauce, kuchela, cook-up rice and all the many other things I used to be able to pick up readily in Tottenham and, to a lesser extent, Peckham. All things Guyana and Trinidad.

I took photos but these are all of family and therefore personal. Whilst out and about I spent some time trying to find a bar close to 111th-street station that Rena and I had spent many a happy hour back in ’94. It would have been on Jamaica Avenue ( or just off) but sadly it was not to be found. Perhaps it closed down? Went out of business? I would love to know what became of it and the lads who ran it.

Happy days in a Queen’s bar in 1994 – where are they now?
